Properties of dense matter in a supernova core in the relativistic mean-field theory

چکیده
We have used the Zimanyi & Moszkowski model in the relativistic mean-field theory to study the properties of asymmetric nuclear matter and the equation of state (EOS) for supernova matter. We find that even though muons are included in the chemical composition of neutron-star matter, this model still results in a small proton concentration so that only themodified Urca process occurs as a main neutrino reaction in neutron stars. This conclusion is opposite to that of the previous studies in the relativistic mean-field theory. The incompressibility of symmetric nuclearmatter is consistent with both the experimental values extracted from the nuclear physics and the constraints placed on the EOS by observations of neutron star masses. If the EOS for supernovamatter is described by thismodel, the prompt mechanism for Type II supervovae cannot work, but the EOS is likely to be favourable to the delayed explosion mechanism.

Multi fluidity and Solitary wave stability in cold quark matter: core of dense astrophysical objects
Considering the magneto-hydrodynamic equations in a non-relativistic multi uid framework, we study the behavior of small amplitude perturbations in cold quark matter. Magneto-hydrodynamic equations, along with a suitable equation of state for the cold quark matter, are expanded using the reductive perturbation method. It is shown that in small amplitude approximation, such a medium should be co...

We study characteristics of the relativistic equation of state (EOS) for collapse-driven supernovae, which is derived by relativistic nuclear many body theory. Recently the relativistic EOS table has become available as a new complete set of physical EOS for numerical simulations of supernova explosion. We examine this EOS table by using general relativistic hydrodynamics of the gravitational c...
متن کاملRelativistic Equation of State of Nuclear Matter for Supernova and Neutron Star
We construct the equation of state (EOS) of nuclear matter using the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory in the wide density, temperature range with various proton fractions for the use of supernova simulation and the neutron star calculations. We first construct the EOS of homogeneous nuclear matter. We use then the Thomas-Fermi approximation to describe inhomogeneous matter, where heavy nucl...
متن کاملInfluence of the symmetry energy on the birth of neutron stars and supernova neutrinos
We study the influence of the symmetry energy of the equation of state on the thermal evolution of protoneutron stars and the properties of supernova neutrinos by the numerical simulations after the protoneutron stars are formed. As for the equation of state (EOS) of nuclear matter, we take two EOS’s with different symmetry energies obtained by the relativistic mean field theory. We find the sy...
متن کاملHot or Dense Matter ∗
I review some of the properties of hot and/or dense relativistic matter. I've been asked to review hot and/or dense matter. As a general rule, most particle physicists aren't that familiar with the behavior of quantum field theory at finite temperature and density. We've all been introduced to how to think about systems of a few relativistic particles with given energies, and how to describe su...
